I'm Australian and the Cuban Embassy here is closed until next month. I plan to visit Cuba to marry my Cuban boyfriend and hope to live in Cuba with him for at least 6 months. Any ideas on where I can get information about the marriage process and about extended stays in Cuba? Also any ideas about websites with information about going into business with the Cuban government or doing business in Cuba?
Please don't tell me about Cuban men being no good. They can't be any worse than the men posting questions on this website about where to find Cuban chicas - those men make my stomach turn.

get engaged as it allows you to walk around and sleep with him legally. plus you can invite him back home and your gov. will legally have to send him home after three months unless you marry him of course. thats after you have realized it will not work out.

You did find you soon-to-be husband in Cuba? How much does he earn for a living? How much do you earn? Who between you and him, pays for the meals, the drinks, etc.?

Of course he has no money, of course I earn much more than him and of course I am the ticket to a better financial future for him. Every relationship is an exchange where each party is trying to get their needs met. So in this respect I am no different to the men looking for Cuban chicas and he is no different to the chicas looking for foreign men with money. However what makes me sick about these men is their attitude - as if Cuban women are a commodity to be used and are not individual human beings who deserve respect.

I appreciate your insight that every relationship is an exchange where each party is trying to get their needs met. The attitude of Cuban men is part of the Cuban culture and results in the fact, that Cuban girls like men form foreign countries rather than Cuban men – besides the fact that a yuma has more money than any Cuban ot offer. Its not all money – as many posters here state.

You cannot obtain extended stay even if you are married. Only Canadians can stay 90 days now.

Do you think Cuban men treat women differently? My girlfriends while in Cuba were constantly disturbed by Cuban men. Fortunately, they read a little before going to Cuba and they were prepared. But imagine if a Western man treats you like a Cuban does towards women...

Cuban men like your soon-to-be husband are not different from other men, and just behave like male posters here who ask questions where to find Cuban chicas.

Of course I am aware that Cuban men also treat women with disrespect. As a woman how could I not know this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From whatever culture the man is, it is still offensive and, I believe, unacceptable.

If you love this guy and have done your homework about the country,politics and culture and are prepared to take a calculated risk...then go for it.
Cuban guys may use the fact that you are wealthier etc than most other guys but they make up for it in their love of life and capacity to enjoy life without all the stuffy crap that you have to put up with from "more civilised" (I use the term loosely) guys such as what's supposedly on this website......go for it babe...have fun. I wish I could do what your doing.
