Anonymous [Sat 23 Feb, 22:50] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | marriage to a Cuban - (17 replies) Hi, I'm Australian and the Cuban Embassy here is closed until next month. I plan to visit Cuba to marry my Cuban boyfriend and hope to live in Cuba with him for at least 6 months. Any ideas on where I can get information about the marriage process and about extended stays in Cuba? Also any ideas about websites with information about going into business with the Cuban government or doing business in Cuba? Please don't tell me about Cuban men being no good. They can't be any worse than the men posting questions on this website about where to find Cuban chicas - those men make my stomach turn. |

For accurate information on marrying a Cuban try emailing the Cuban embassy in Ottawa: cuba@embacuba.ca Tel: (613)563-0141. Also check previous posts on TT for a wealth of information. There is also a TT FAQ on this subject. Well good luck sister, you'll need it. |
ay ay jimmy [Sat 23 Feb, 23:19] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 3. aussie guys make my stomache turn too they never pay the chicas! are they that cheap back home too? you find cuban chicas in cuba in case anyone is interested. do not marry! get engaged as it allows you to walk around and sleep with him legally. plus you can invite him back home and your gov. will legally have to send him home after three months unless you marry him of course. thats after you have realized it will not work out. i think i'll go to australia to get a wife. love the accent. |

They can't be any worse than the men posting questions on this website about where to find Cuban chicas - those men make my stomach turn." You did find you soon-to-be husband in Cuba? How much does he earn for a living? How much do you earn? Who between you and him, pays for the meals, the drinks, etc.? You are living on an illusion... |

Anonymous [Sun 24 Feb, 05:44] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 7. re: hypocracy Of course he has no money, of course I earn much more than him and of course I am the ticket to a better financial future for him. Every relationship is an exchange where each party is trying to get their needs met. So in this respect I am no different to the men looking for Cuban chicas and he is no different to the chicas looking for foreign men with money. However what makes me sick about these men is their attitude - as if Cuban women are a commodity to be used and are not individual human beings who deserve respect. |
camahan [Sun 24 Feb, 06:13] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 8. Cuban men I appreciate your insight that every relationship is an exchange where each party is trying to get their needs met. The attitude of Cuban men is part of the Cuban culture and results in the fact, that Cuban girls like men form foreign countries rather than Cuban men – besides the fact that a yuma has more money than any Cuban ot offer. Its not all money – as many posters here state. |

greslogo [Sun 24 Feb, 11:29] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 10. Canadians can also now extend their stay by another 90 days without having to leave. |
greslogo [Sun 24 Feb, 11:36] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 11. Also it seems it is possible to get residency if you are married to a Cuban. The following site was off a link from the Cuban Customs site. http://www.cubaadvice.com/english/residencias.htm |

Anonymous [Sun 24 Feb, 19:18] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 13. marriage to a cuban you can be sure that the cuba govt. will suck money out of you on any and every pretence that they can come up with and you will be treated as a second class citizen to boot & and that's pretty low in a country that's already el culo del mundo |
Anonymous [Sun 24 Feb, 22:44] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 14. hypocrisy 2 "as if Cuban women are a commodity to be used and are not individual human beings who deserve respect" Do you think Cuban men treat women differently? My girlfriends while in Cuba were constantly disturbed by Cuban men. Fortunately, they read a little before going to Cuba and they were prepared. But imagine if a Western man treats you like a Cuban does towards women... Cuban men like your soon-to-be husband are not different from other men, and just behave like male posters here who ask questions where to find Cuban chicas. You are living on an illusion... |
Anonymous [Mon 25 Feb, 16:11] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 15. re: hypocracy 2 Of course I am aware that Cuban men also treat women with disrespect. As a woman how could I not know this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From whatever culture the man is, it is still offensive and, I believe, unacceptable. |
Anonymous [Tue 26 Feb, 22:07] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 16. from one Aussie to another ....who fell in love with a Cuban and...(providing he isn't the same guy I met through Havana Night!)Don't listen to any of the crap these guys rave on about here...most of them are yank or Canadian and have NO idea re; the determination of Aussie women. They also have axes to grind about both Cuban men and women probably because none of them can get their end in anyway!! If you love this guy and have done your homework about the country, politics and culture and are prepared to take a calculated risk...then go for it. Cuban guys may use the fact that you are wealthier etc than most other guys but they make up for it in their love of life and capacity to enjoy life without all the stuffy crap that you have to put up with from "more civilised" (I use the term loosely) guys such as what's supposedly on this website......go for it babe...have fun. I wish I could do what your doing. |
Anonymous [Wed 27 Feb, 00:52] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 17. Thank-you thank-you #16 It is a calculated risk and one I am prepared to take. p.s. I did not meet him in Havana |
