Sonney [Mon 20 May, 09:45] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 1. Calling the US Generally, you have to call the operator, schedule the call and the operator calls you when the line is ready. Calls are usually collect to the US. I don't know if you can even charge a call to your home phone for instance, but I would hope that it would be possible. As far as calling cards, they are available, and expensive for US calls |

BIKECUBA [Mon 20 May, 11:30] PST (Gumly Gumly -17) | 3. US phone calls You can buy ETESCA phone cards for $5, $10, $15 and dial the number direct from any ETESCA phone, or you can go to an ETESCA office and have the operator place the call for you. This is much cheaper than calls placed through operators at international, tourist hotels. I'm not sure of the rate. I know that it was under $2.00 per minute. I think it was around $1.50. It was very simple and straightforward. All of the directions are printed on the telephone, and there is a display to tell you how much money you have left on your card.
